The designers of the new dealerships and service workshops have not centred solely on the look. From the outset, they have maintained an environmentally friendly attitude. “Energy savings were on our minds from the word go,” says Jaromír Kuhn, head of the ŠKODA architectural team. If we could keep the lid on energy, we would not only contribute to a better environment, but the dealers would also be able to use resources elsewhere to their own or the brand’s benefit. The installation of solar panels or heat pump systems in the future paves the way for further savings and a smaller ecological footprint.
To make sure the car is as environmentally friendly as possible, both on the road and during servicing at authorised ŠKODA service partners, we need highly trained professionals.
A training programme to enlighten professionals about environmentally responsible car servicing was launched in 2011. It focuses on the various themes related to environmental protection, such as waste management, air and water protection, the management of chemical substances and other topical issues thrown up by changes to legislation and stipulations under existing laws.
Since 2007, ŠKODA AUTO has planted one tree for every car it has sold in the Czech Republic. Its “One Tree Planted for Every Car Sold in the Czech Republic” project saw more than 500,000 trees planted at over 50 sites between the project launch and the end of 2015. Every year, dozens of ŠKODA AUTO employees are actively involved in the project, identifying suitable spots for planting and working with their families to install the trees. Apprentices from the ŠKODA secondary vocational centre and ŠKODA trainees also put their shoulders to the wheel.
